Black
Maria, the ballet, was
a splendid production with music, dance, costumes and film all giving
a new dimension to one of Diana's most complex books.
The
ballet had only a short run in October 2007 at the
Lilian Baylis Theatre, Sadlers Wells, Rosebery Avenue, London, but
it was a wonderful show which
deserves to be put on again or go on tour.
Diana
gave a Question and Answer session
after the matinee on
24th October. Full report to come soon,
but just as a taster, she gave some details of her forthcoming book
featuring Howl, and mentioned Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki's interest
in another of her books.
Further information from http://www.blackmaria.co.uk.
The ballet dances were invented by Susie Crow; film and video was
by Zara Waldebeck; and music was by Tom Armstrong (Diana's nephew).
